Spring wedding season is officially here!! Thus Sam and Jillian’s Spring Wedding at Mellwood Art Center was full of vibrant spring color! I am honored to have captured the nuptials and I can’t wait to share some of my favorite images from their day!
A Beautiful Spring Wedding Ceremony
Jillian was radiant in a classic ivory gown with delicate lace detailing and a cathedral length veil. Sam was equally dashing in a tailored grey suit with a light purple tie. The bridal party sported a lilac color with colorful bouquets and boutonnières. After taking pre-ceremony photos, it was time to tie the knot!
The heartfelt ceremony was held at the historic Highland Baptist Church. Natural light streamed through stained glass, illuminating the couple. The church’s classic architecture offered a beautiful contrast to the bright, joyful spring palette chosen for the day. There was not a dry eye in the house as Sam reacted tearfully to Jillian’s entrance.
Undeniably, the ceremony was the sweetest! The couple’s respective mothers read special quotes – one from Jillian’s favorite book and song lyrics from Sam’s favorite artist. Jillian’s dad officiated the ceremony and gave lots of sage advice and funny anecdotes. After the vows were read and rings were exchanged, it was finally time for the first kiss!
Time to Celebrate!
After the ceremony, guests made their way to Mellwood Art Center. This is a beloved Louisville venue known for its creative charm and urban elegance. The reception space was transformed with lovely spring florals. While the bride and groom made their grand entrance, the crowd buzzed with excitement for the festivities.
First, Sam and Jillian danced their first dance, beautifully choreographed under strings of fairy lights. Shortly after, friends and family toasted the newlyweds and shared stories that painted a picture of two people truly meant to be. Afterwards, the bride and groom cut their classically beautiful wedding cake. A crowd favorite was the groom’s cake, decorated with a beach scene.
Without a doubt, the dance floor was full all night! As Sam proposed at the Era’s Tour, there was no shortage of Taylor Swift throughout the night. Sam and Jillian’s spring wedding was more than just a celebration—it was a colorful and joyful expression of love. All in all, a perfect start to a lifetime of adventure together.
Congratulations to the Johnsons! To sum it up, I know there is a lifetime of happiness in store for this sweet couple. Keep scrolling for a sneak peek at their Spring Wedding at Mellwood Art Center.
