Jon + Mason

From the moment I met Jon and Mason for their engagement session last spring, I liked their vibe. All of my clients are amazing and enjoy being a part of every couple’s wedding day but there are some couples I just have an extra connection with. I had that with Mason + Jon. I loved getting to know them over the past year and being a part of the beautiful wedding day was a dream. Upscale Backyard Wedding

When I hear backyard wedding, I have a vision of what that looks like in Kentucky. However, Mason + Jon surprised me. The family home they got married looked like it was straight out of a magazine. I obsessed all day over how photogenic this home was – which led to some amazing photos!

An Intimate, Heartfelt Ceremony

Like many couples post-Covid, Jonathan and Mason opted for a smaller wedding. They tied the knot surrounded by only family and close friends in an intimate backyard ceremony. The groom’s cousin performed a beautiful ceremony that was funny but truly celebrated this couple’s 10 years of love. Mason said her vows in English and Jon said his in Spanish, which was a unique and sweet celebration of Jon’s heritage. In true Kentucky fashion, they buried a bottle of bourbon to keep the rain away and dug it up right after the first kiss! And they were officially announced husband and wife.

And A Joyous Reception to Follow

We made our way to Mellwood Art Center for Mason + Jon’s reception. They included so many personal touches that made their day unique to them. We escaped to take a few flash photos around Mellwood, which turned out to be some of my favorite photos of the night. This group danced the night away and shared cigars, a Cuban tradition according to our groom.
