October is by far my favorite month of the year. Because of this, I am very selective of the weddings I take on this month. I am so glad that Sydney + Zach were one of my October weddings for 2023. I had so much fun shooting their Fall Wedding in Lexington, Kentucky.
Back in the Heart of the Bluegrass
Zach and Sydney tied the knot at The Thoroughbred Center in Lexington, Kentucky. My husband and I moved to Louisville from the Lexington area back in 2019. Although I love the 502, Lexington has a special place in my heart and I always love the chance to come back and shoot a wedding in the rolling hills of Lexington. The Thoroughbred Center was the perfect place to celebrate a wedding in the horse capital of the world.
There is a special place in my heart for Zach and Sydney’s wedding colors as well. It’s rare to see greens (especially deep, darker greens) at a wedding these days. As these were my wedding colors, I always get excited when couples decide to go that route. The groom and groomsmen wore all black and the bridal party wore various shades of green. Sydney tied everything together with a set of AMAZING emerald green earrings that were the star of the show.
Fall Weather for a Fall Wedding in Lexington, Kentucky
As always, Kentucky weather threw some curveballs at us for this wedding day. It was a blustery fall day with cool temperatures, moderate winds (not ideal of Sydney’s GORGEOUS cathedral length veil), and rain on and off throughout the day. The weather was a bit of a bummer but Sydney and Zach remained in good spirits as we made last minute changes.
Minutes before the ceremony, they decided to pivot and move the ceremony inside. Thankfully this venue has some amazing indoor options and an awesome team that made the shift happen in minutes. It wasn’t the outdoor location they planned for but the candlelit fireplace was a very romantic setting for them to say “I Do.” The crystal chandelier down the aisle made for the perfect addition to their ceremony photos.
Party Time to Celebrate the Newlyweds
Once we got to the reception, this group knew how to have fun! I truly have never been to a wedding reception that had so many genres of music played on the dance floor – it was such a fun adventure to see what the DJ played next. During Sydney and Zach’s engagement session, they both wore band tees and talked a lot about their love of music (albeit different genres) so I should of expected it but it was a fun surprise.
Zach and Sydney are surrounded by so much love from their family and friends and it was so evident as the day unfolded. I am confident their fun continued on for hours after I left the festivities. Sending so much love and congratulations to the newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Ridenour. Wishing them the best honeymoon and a lifetime of love.
