July 20, 2024 | The Gatewood Reception | LaGrange, Kentucky
Boy oh boy – I am so excited to share James and Katie’s wedding day! This wedding day did not turn out how they originally planned but nevertheless, it was SO full of joy and it was such a pleasure to capture. Keep scrolling to see some this Louisville Wedding Photographer‘s favorite photos of James and Katie’s Duncan Memorial Chapel ceremony and The Gatewood reception.
A Change of Plans
James and Katie had originally planned to have their wedding ceremony on a beach in Cancun, Mexico followed by a local reception with friends and family. Unfortunately, Hurricane Beryl had other plans. James and Katie decided to cancel their Cancun ceremony because of the weather conditions. After a few stressful weeks of rearranging plans, James and Katie were able to plan a small ceremony at Duncan Memorial Chapel in addition to their already planned local reception.
Duncan Memorial Chapel is the most perfect location for a last minute change of plans. The historic architecture and beautiful grounds make a perfect backdrop for a ceremony, with very little decorating needed! Their ceremony was short and sweet, surrounded by family and friends. After some family photos and beautiful portraits of the bride and groom, we made our way to their Gatewood reception!
Reception at The Gatewood
Nestled in historic downtown La Grange, The Gatewood was a beautiful location for a small reception. Surrounded by exposed brick and lots of natural light, guests enjoyed a delicious dinner catered by City Barbecue. After dinner, the bridal party gave heartfelt toasts that brought laughter and tears, highlighting the special bond James and Katie share.
The evening continued on the dance floor – despite the couple telling me that they were NOT dancers. The energy was contagious, and soon the dance floor was filled with guests celebrating this joyous occasion. James and Katie’s nephew was the star of the show, never leaving the dance floor. The night was capped off with the singing of karaoke, with a special dedication from Katie to the mother of the bride.
James and Katie’s wedding was a perfect blend of love, joy, and celebration. From the charming ceremony at Duncan Memorial Chapel to the enchanting reception at The Gatewood, every moment was a testament to their love and commitment to each other. Here’s to a lifetime of happiness for the Franklins!
