I know it’s *technically* not fall yet, but here at MM Photo Co. fall wedding season has officially begun! Jesse and Amanda could not have asked for better weather for their wedding at Avonley Homestead in Shelbyville, Kentucky. It was such a pleasure to capture their wedding day. Keep scrolling to read more about the festivities and see some of my favorite photos from the event!
Avonley Homestead, Shelbyville’s Hidden Gem
Before this Saturday, I had yet to photograph an event at Avonley Homestead. Now that I have, I can confidently say that is a hidden gem in Shelbyville. The grounds are absolutely beautiful – with rolling Kentucky hills and two gorgeous trees that provide perfect framing for a ceremony. A perfect size for a small to medium sized guest list, the barn provides rustic charm for a beautiful Kentucky wedding.
Jesse and Amanda captured the beauty of fall perfectly with their decor. The burnt oranges and forest greens made for the most beautiful details throughout the venue. I am OBSESSED with the reception table decor as well as the ceremony space, completed with a hexagonal arbor and an aisle adorned with rugs.
A Wedding Day to Remember
Jesse and Amanda’s wedding day was sweet, full of family and personal touches. Amanda and the girls got ready for the big day in the “bridal shack” (as one of the flower girls called it). Her dress was light and simple, with lace details. Her personalized high-top converse were ADORABLE and brought all of the fall colors into her bridal ensemble. Amanda shared a first look with her dad before seeing her groom for the first time.
After taking photos on the beautiful grounds, the bridal party prepared for the main event. The ceremony was officiated by the groom’s sister and featured a Celtic hand tying ceremony. Jesse and Amanda incorporated Amanda’s daughter in the ceremony by having her tie the first knot, symbolizing the next step in their family. After sealing the deal with a kiss, it was time for the reception!
Jesse and Amanda are not fans of dancing so in lieu of the traditional first dance, they played the shoe game. And instead of sharing dances with their parents, they had a cupcake eating contest which was a fun addition to the evening. Guests visited, played cornhole, and danced into the evening, celebrating the newlyweds!
A huge congratulations to the Scharffs! Wishing Jesse and Amanda lots of joy in this new season of life together and a lifetime of wedded bliss. I am so honored to have been a part of their celebration and can’t wait to share their photos with you.
